Before deciding material restoration, it is important that your dentist know if your health has changed since your last visit. Tell him:

Restorations
Before filling a tooth, your dentist can administer a local anesthetic so that you feel no pain. Second, it removes any trace of decay, shapes and the cavity filled with a material that will restore appropriate agreed with you.
It classifies the materials into 2 main categories:
The restoration of direct materials - These materials are placed directly into the cavity prepared by the dentist and harden quickly. For example, the amalgam restorations (or money) and restores plastic (or white). Most of the time, a direct restoration is done in one visit.
The indirect restorative materials - These materials used to make custom restorations in the laboratory, then they are cemented in place by your dentist. For example, crowns and inlays. Most of the time, an indirect restoration takes 2 or more visits.
The dental amalgam is the restoration of direct material best known. Among indirect restoration, alloys or cast are perhaps the most durable, but ceramics are becoming increasingly popular because they had relatively longer than other materials that have the color of teeth.

Health Canada's role
One of the tasks of Health Canada is to ensure that materials and restoration of dental tools are safe and that Canadians receive optimal dental care. It is also the mandate set by the Canadian Dental Association for any Canadian who is treated by a dentist.
