Gum disease
You are going to be immunized against gum disease? Over 75% of people aged over 35 years in Canada have some form of gum disease, also known as periodontal disease. In fact, more than 10 billion dollars are spent each year to replace lost teeth due to gum disease, is the main cause of tooth loss in adults.

The most mild gum disease is gingivitis. Attacking the gums and tissues that support the tooth infection bactériale is not painful and very few symptoms, except that the gums are red, swollen and bleed easily.

Fortunately, gingivitis is easily cured with treatment your dentist and good oral care at home. If left untreated, the disease can worsen and cause all sorts of unpleasant complications, including tooth loss, respiratory diseases, heart disease and low birth weight.

How gum disease to develop? If you do not remove plaque, the colorless sticky coating that forms on your teeth every day, you brush your teeth and moving the floss, it hardens to form what is called tartar. Tartar builds up under the gums, increasing the risk of gum disease.

The bacteria contained in plaque produce toxins that irritate the gums and loose teeth. It creates pockets of which are filled with toxins and bacteria that eventually destroy the bone that holds the tooth in place. If they are not treated, the affected teeth will become loose and eventually fall, or they must be removed.
