Baby tooth decay prevention knowledge

Food Petit Poucet

Also known as syndrome bottle, rampant caries or recurrent caries extent, bottle tooth decay is a form of decay which covers the primary teeth (baby teeth) with the loss of them. This process is fast and sometimes the parents have the impression that already pushes the tooth decay. Decay appears first on the upper teeth (from above) and saving sometimes lower teeth.

How does tooth decay?
Caries develops on a tooth vulnerable when bacteria that are present in plaque dentaire1 convert sugar into acid.

This acidic environment promotes penetration of the enamel (demineralisation), which causes tooth decay.

The actors involved in tooth decay are:

Dent: that is fragile, which has ridges, which is less robust;
Salive: it has the power to regulate the acidity in the mouth;
Acid bacteria: they are present in plaque and produce acid from sugars that are present
Food (s): those that contain sugars and those acids.
Bottle syndrome
The teeth are more susceptible to decay when they come to appear.

When the child falls asleep with the bottle, the liquid (milk, juice or soft drink) remains in the mouth, in contact with dental plaque and teeth. As there is a reduction of saliva during sleep, we can rely less on it to counter the acidity. The teeth are long hours in the acidic environment, promoting the formation of cavities and possibly tooth loss.
